30 Word Stories

25 Nov

I am stoked about writing six word memoirs with my students this week. So it seemed serendipitous when today I found a website that publishes 30 word stories (even Sherman Alexie likes the idea). I’ve spent the last bit of time writing random 30 word stories. I will share them below. I’d appreciate it if you told me your favorite of my drafts-in-progress in a comment or message.

And before you judge, try it. It’s harder than it looks. 🙂

1. Someone once told me he called all the shots. I laughed before seeing that he was serious. “Fine,” I said, without a breath of reluctance. “Call the shot.”

2. It had never occurred to me that she was so alone. The reason I now know, I couldn’t stop thinking about how lonely I was.

3. Someone once asked if there were any subliminal messages anymore. I said, “You’re reading one.” She responded, “I’m not reading anything.” I smiled, “Exactly.”

4. I sit here and read about everyone so up in arms. I get mad too. Some days I get furious. But I still just sit here.
